A multiphase motor comprises a plurality of ferromagnetic stator core segments, the core segments being substantially uniformly spaced around an axis of rotation and isolated from direct contact with each other. Each core segment forms at least one pair of poles having coils wound thereon to form a phase winding. Each stator phase winding is configured with a topology different from the topology of each of the other phase windings. Each phase winding has a different total number of coils from one or more of the other phase windings. Each phase winding comprises coils of a gauge different from the coil gauge of one or more of the other phase windings. Preferably, all of the phase windings have substantially the same total coil mass.

Cette invention concerne un moteur multiphase comprenant une pluralité de segments de noyau de stator ferromagnétique, lesquels segments de noyau sont sensiblement uniformément espacés autour d'un axe de rotation et isolés les uns des autres de façon qu'ils ne soient pas en contact direct. Chaque segment de noyau forme au moins une paire de pôles comprenant des bobines enroulées sur ceux-ci afin qu'un enroulement de phase soit formé. Chacun des enroulements de phase de stator est conçu selon une topologie différente de celle de chacun des autres enroulements de phase. Chacun des enroulements de phase comporte un nombre total de bobines différent de celui d'un ou plusieurs autres enroulements de phase. Chacun des enroulements de phase comprend par ailleurs des bobines d'un calibre différent de celui d'un ou plusieurs autres enroulements de phase. Tous les enroulements de phase présentent de préférence le même poids total de bobine.
