Abstract An open clamp structure adapted to be tightened about an object to be fastened includes a mechanical connection between two mutually overlapping band portions. Two outwardly extending hook devices are provided in the inner band portion operable to form-lockingly engage in an aperture provided in the outer band portion. One hook device is a cold-deformed support hook having a force- engaging surface and another hook device is a combined guide and support hook having a force-engaging surface operable to initially guide the inner and outer band portions towards one another and to absorb circum- ferentially directed forces until assisted in such force absorption by the first hook device.
