ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION An improved jewelry mounting construction capable of being adapted for use selectively for either pierced or non-pierced ears. The improved construction comprises a base which is attached to the decorative portion of an earing, and is compatible with interchangeable fastener. The base and the fastener have comp1ementary connecting elements which serve as means for releasably connecting the fasteners to the base. In one embodiment, the base comprises a first layer affixed to a fashion, and a second layer attached to the first layer, defining a notch. The fastener includes a plate. The second layer of the base is attached to the first layer of the base so as to permit the plate of the fastener to slide between the layers of the base and be firmly retained therein. The fastener are individually adapted for use with either pierced or non-pierced ears. Also disclosed is a construction for selectively adapting earring fashions for use as stickpins or scarf pins.
