EARTH BORING BIT WITH COMPOSITE ANTI-GALLING BEARING SURFACE Abstract of the Disclosure A rolling cone cutter earth boring bit is provided with a bearing system having a long lifetime, that will support heavy loading, that can withstand relatively high rotational speeds, that is compatible with temperature extremes, that may be operated under highly corrosive and abrasive conditions, and that will withstand pressure variations. At least one cantilevered bearing pin extends from the arm of the bit. A rolling cone cutter is rotatably mounted on the bearing pin. The bearing surface of one of the relatively rotatable members is grit-blasted to give it a roughened surface. A layer of low shear strength, high thermal conductivity material is applied to the roughened surface. A second layer of material is applied over the first layer. The second layer comprises a low strength, highly conformable material.
