Abstract A wear member for use in an earthworking implement. The wear member is defined by a U-section element having a bottom bight portion, upstanding legs defining a channel for receiving the lower edge portion of the sidewall member of the earthworking implement. Removable securing elements are provided for releasably retaining the wear member to the sidewall portion. The bottom surface of the wear member may be tapered to provide a reduced footprint for improved blade penetra- tion. The reinforcement further includes a half arrow element having a tapered portion received in a recess of the sidewall plate member. A wear plate may be welded to the bottom edge portion of the sidewall plate member. The outer leg of the U-section wear member may be provided with a recess for receiving the distal end of the bit support flush with the front surface of the outer leg of wear member.
