A pedestal assembly (10) for an EAS system comprises an antenna, an electronic assembly (22), and a support member (20) having at least first and second recesses. The antenna is seated in the first recess and the electronic assembly is seated in the second recess (28). Bumpers (62a, 62b) are secured to opposed sides of the support member and a top cap member is applied to the assembled support member and bumpers. Upper ends of front and rear covers (12, 14) are inserted interiorly of the top cap member and thereby retentively circumscribed. Lower ends of the first and second covers are then secured, to the support member to complete the pedestal assembly. Field service is facilitated in that all interior components of the pedestal assembly are accessible simply upon unsecuring the lower ends of the covers from the support member and downwardly sliding the covers from the top cap member. The support member comprises a two-layer plastic body, one layer of which defines the first and second recesses. The two-layer plastic body is preferably a thermoformed molded body.

On fixe des butoirs (62a, 62b) sur les côtés opposés de l'élément support, puis on applique un élément couvercle supérieur sur l'élément support assemblé et les butoirs. On insère les extrémités supérieures des panneaux avant et arrière (12, 14) à l'intérieur de l'élément couvercle de façon que celui-ci les retienne. Puis on fixe les extrémités inférieures du premier et du second panneau sur l'élément support afin d'achever l'ensemble borne. L'assistance technique est facilitée par le fait que pour accéder à tous les composants internes de l'ensemble borne, il suffit de décrocher les extrémités inférieures des panneaux de l'élément support et de faire sortir lesdits panneaux de l'élément couvercle en les faisant coulisser. L'élément support comprend un corps en plastique formé de deux couches, dont l'une définit la première et la seconde cavité. Le corps en plastique est de préférence un corps moulé thermoformé.
