A packaging bag (1) comprises a first ply (2) and a second ply (3) joined along an edge (la) defining the closed end of the bag and along side edges (4,5) of the bag. A mouth of the bag has a first edge (6) on the first ply (2) and a second edge (7) on the second ply (3), which projects beyond the first edge (6) and comprises a folded over film portion. The margin (7a) of the second edge portion (7) is disposed adjacent the first edge (6) so as to provide a substantially constant thickness of the bag across the mouth and projecting portion (7).
