A ring metal (10) has binder rings (12-16) each comprised of two ring segments one end of each of which is attached to a hinge plate (18, 20). A movable bar (34) extends from one end of the metal to the other and contacts the hinge plates to move them when the binder is opened. A manually operated trigger (32) connects to one end of the bar to move the bar. The trigger includes a slot (40) in which is fitted a pin (44) connected to the bar. The pin moves in the slot as the trigger is moved. Drawing the trigger away from a binder closed position toward a binder open position moves the pin through the slot. This causes the bar to move relative to the hinges, forcing the hinges to pivot the respective segments of each binder ring away from each other and open the binder. When the binder is closed, a nib (62) formed on the top of the bar is received in an opening in a shield (22) of the metal to prevent the trigger from being inadvertently moved and opening the binder.
Une pièce métallique à anneaux (10) comporte des anneaux de reliure (12-16), chacun étant constitué de deux segments, dont une extrémité de chacun de ces segments est fixée à une plaque articulée (18, 20). Une barre mobile (34) va d'une extrémité de la pièce métallique à l'autre extrémité et entre en contact avec les plaques articulées pour les déplacer, à l'ouverture de la reliure. Une gâchette manuelle (32) est raccordée a une extrémité de la barre pour la déplacer. Cette gâchette comprend une rainure (40) dans laquelle est assemblé un axe (44) raccordé à la barre. L'axe se déplace dans la rainure à mesure que la gâchette est mue. Le fait de tirer sur la gâchette en l'éloignant, de la position fermée de la reliure vers la position ouverte, déplace l'axe dans la rainure. Cette manoeuvre fait déplacer la barre par rapport aux articulations, ce qui oblige ces articulations à faire pivoter les segments respectifs de chaque anneau de reliure en les éloignant l'un de l'autre, et à ouvrir la reliure. Lorsque la reliure est fermée, une nervure (62) formée au-dessus de la barre est reçue dans une ouverture de blindage (22) de la pièce métallique pour empêcher la gâchette de se déplacer par inadvertance et d'ouvrir la reliure.
