A dryer vent is provided with a housing defining a duct having a vertical wall with an inlet port, an outlet port from the duct and an inlet port closure flapper having an upper end pivotally mounted on a pivot axis to the housing above the inlet port and extending down past the inlet port, said closure flapper having a center of gravity offset laterally from the wall beyond the vertical plane containing the pivot axis, to maximize air flow area and to cause the flapper to keep the inlet port closed in the absence of pressurized air flow into the inlet port. The closure flapper has a three- dimensional configuration, extending from the pivot axis inwardly of the duct away from the wall, and then back toward the wall to abut the wall below the inlet port.
