A method for processing telecommunications signals to alleviate echo during a voice communication between a local talker and a remote talker comprises the application of circular buffers for near and far end signals to preserve processing time. Overlapping blocks of samples are processed and indexed by incrementing the index over time to generate an array for storing magnitude coherence versus time delay between outgoing and incoming samples. Echo is clipped based on power spectral matching. The clipped echo is replaced with noise fill of at least one of two types, white noise and tonal noise, at an appropriate level. Also, crackle which comprises high energy spikes and a residual echo effect which is low energy, bursty and non-linear may be identified and replaced with noise fill.
Méthode de traitement de signaux de télécommunications permettant d'atténuer l'écho pendant une communication vocale entre un interlocuteur local et un interlocuteur éloigné. Comprend l'application de tampons circulaires pour le stockage des signaux locaux et éloignés afin de préserver le temps de traitement. Des blocs chevauchants d'échantillons sont traités et indexés par incrémentation de l'indice avec le temps afin de produire une matrice pour mémoriser la cohérence de grandeur par rapport au retard entre les échantillons de départ et d'arrivée. L'écho est écrêté en fonction de la concordance spectrale de puissance. L'écho écrêté est remplacé par un bruit de remplissage, soit un bruit blanc, soit un bruit tonal, ou les deux, au niveau voulu. En outre, il est possible d'identifier et de remplacer par un bruit de remplissage le grésillement comprenant des pointes à haute énergie et un effet d'écho résiduel à faible énergie, non linéaire, sous forme de rafale.
