A high-efficiency room heater generally includes at least one plate constructed of a material formulated to withstand heating and cooling. A heating element such as an electrical resistance heating element in encased within the plate, causing the plate to heat when power is applied. The room heater may be attached to a stand or mounted to a wall. Thus situated, the room heater heats the room by convection. Specifically, cool air enters a space between the plate and the wall. As the cool air heats, it rises and is replaced by more cool air, which continues to be heated and circulated.
