ABSTRACT In the manufacture of multiple-glazed window units having a heat-cured peripheral seal, a dark-coloured heat-curable sealing material, such as a black polysulphide rubber, is cured by radiant heating, e.g. by infra-red heating directed at the periphery of the units, so as to heat the sealing material while minimizing the heat- ing of the air within the space or spaces between the panes of the units, thus reducing the problem of peripheral spacer blow-out. The process can be carried out in a tunnel oven through which stacks of the units are transported on conveyors, the stacks being turned through 90° at an intermediate point to expose all sides of the units to the radiant heat from infra-red heaters disposed along the sides of the oven.
