ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Novel methods are provided herein for applying a barrier coating to at least one surface of an edible food container. The novel method includes the steps of applying a moisture-resistant, barrier coating com- position to at least the interior surface of the edible food container in an amount sufficient to produce a continuous, uniform film of the barrier coating composition on the surface, the barrier coating composition being applied by introducing an effective amount of the coating composition up the inside surface of the container by imparting relative motion to the edible food container and the coating composition to effect a vertical motion of the coating composition with the edible food container. Novel edible food containers containing a moisture-proof, food-grade, barrier coating are also provided.
