Methods and apparatus are presented herein for encrypting and authentication data, such that some of data can be transmitted in the clear but still be authenticated by the sender. A set of cleartext positions and/or a set of ciphertext positions are used to specify which data blocks will be used to generate an input checksum value (470) and an output checksum value (475). These checksums are then used to generate an authentication tag. (490)

L'invention concerne des procédés et un appareil permettant de chiffrer et d'authentifier des données de façon que certaines des données puissent être transmises en clair tout en étant authentifiées par l'expéditeur. Un ensemble de positions en clair et/ou un ensemble de positions chiffrées sont utilisés pour spécifier quels blocs de données vont être utilisés pour générer une somme de contrôle d'entrée (470) et une somme de contrôle de sortie (475). Ces sommes de contrôle permettent ensuite de générer une étiquette d'authentification (490).
