A solution is provided that allows prompt notification of new e-mail arrival while minimizing the unnecessary loading of mail server and network resources. It provides a short time delay after arrival of new e-mail when the user needs it most, and minimizes the unnecessary loading of resources when the user does not require immediate notification. This is accomplished by establishing a session with the mail server once a predefined event, such as the sending of a new e-mail, has occurred. This session may invoke server-initiated- notification of new-email for a limited period of time.
Une solution a été apportée pour permettre une notification rapide de l'arrivée d'un nouveau courriel et réduire le chargement inutile du serveur des courriels et des ressources du réseau. Cela procure un délai de courte durée après l'arrivée d'un nouveau courriel au moment où l'utilisateur en a le plus besoin, et minimise le chargement inutile de ressources lorsque l'utilisateur n'a pas besoin d'une notification immédiate. Pour cela, il suffit d'établir une session avec le serveur de courriels une fois qu'un événement prédéfini, tel que l'envoi d'un nouveau courriel, s'est produit. Cette session peut appeler une notification déclenchée par le serveur d'un nouveau courriel sur une durée limitée.
