The cellular location of the membrane associated proteins is characterized by their partitioning properties in the detergent Triton X114 and by the presence on a subset of the proteins of a hydrophobic glycolipid anchor. Antiserum raised against detergent phase proteins reacts specifically with the surface of Eimeria sporozoites. The Eimeria proteins are capable of protecting poultry from coccidiosis.
