A decorative bed ruffle is capable of installation on a mattress foundation such as a box spring without removal of an upper mattress therefrom. A band of elastically stretchable material forms a closed loop adapted to be stretched to pass over the upper mattress and grippingly retained on the sides of the mattress foundation. The width of the band is such that top and bottom edge portions of the band will extend over and elastically grip top and bottom edge 5 of the mattress foundation, respectively. A decorative skirt is attached to the band ofmaterial in overlapping relation therewith, for covering at least part of a central portion of the band extending over the foundation sidewalls, and at least part of the space between the mattress foundation and a supporting floor surface. In addition to easing installation, the inventive bed ruffle provides greater retention on the foundation, permits adjustment of the skirt drop to accommodate differentheight bed frames and foundations, and can accommodate a range of mattress sizesand shapes.
