Abstract of the Disclosure An elastic foamed rubber material contains a large amount of a metallic component. The material is capable of shield- ing from X-rays and is sufficiently flexible that it can be used to make protective clothing. The material comprises a mixture of two base materials of 100 parts weight of about 200,000 and 40-45 parts by weight of a rubber material of a molecular weight of from 2,000 to 12,000, with granules produced by very finely granulating metallic components in the amount over 6 times by weight of said base rubber mixture being uniformly dispersed in the mixture.
