A laminate material formed of an elastomeric polymer sheet and a nonwoven fabric sheet. The sheets are passed through a niproll assembly during lamination, one of the niprolls having a series of embossing points protruding therefrom, and the other niproll being substantially flat. The embossing points press selective areas of the preferably molten polymer sheet into the fabric sheet, encapsulating the fabric fibers and bonding thereto. The resulting material has points of bonding where penetration has occurred and areas of nonpenetration, providing adherence of the two sheets while permitting independent movement of the fibers and elastic properties. Preferably, a release agent is added to the elastomeric polymer to reduce the possiblity of the elastomer layer sticking to the nonwoven layer when the laminate is wound onto a supply roll.

L'invention concerne un matériau laminé formé d'une feuille en polymère élastomère et d'une nappe de tissu non-tissé. Pendant la stratification, lesdites nappes sont passées à travers un ensemble à cylindres exprimeurs, un de ces cylindres possédant une série de points de gaufrages saillants, l'autre étant sensiblement plat. Les points de gaufrage compriment des zones sélectives de la nappe, de préférence en polymère fondu, dans la nappe du tissu afin de les lier dessus et d'encapsuler les fibres du tissu. Le matériau obtenu est pourvu de points de liaison là où la pénétration a eu lieu, ainsi que de zones de non-pénétration, ce qui permet de parvenir à une adhérence des deux nappes, tout en favorisant un mouvement indépendant des fibres et en leur conférant des propriétés élastiques. De préférence, on ajoute un agent anti-adhérent au polymère élastomère pour réduire la possibilité que la couche élastomère ne colle à la couche non-tissé au moment où le stratifié est enroulé sur un rouleau d'alimentation.
