An elastomer decent assembly having a first member (30, etc.) including a plurality of recesses (40, etc.) formed in a surface (35, etc.) thereof, a second member (50) engagable with said plurality of recesses and including at least one detent finger (52, etc.), a dimension of said at least one detent finger (52, etc.) being sized relative to a comparable dimension of said surface such that upon application of a force, said at least one detent finger (52, etc.) will move in finite increments relative to said first member (30, etc.) providing a detent mechanism, and at least one of said first and second members further comprises an elastomer portion and including a radially extending flange (59, etc.) for limiting axial motion between the members. Embodiments including elastomer bonded to either an inner (38, etc.) or an outer (126, etc.) member are provided.
