The present invention provides a composition suitable for an air barrier such as an automotive tire innertube, innerliner, and aircraft tire innertube or innerliner, curing bladders, and other pneumatic devices. THe compositioncomprises an elastomer comprising C4 to C7 isoolefin derived units; and a plastomer, wherein the plastomer is a copolymer of ethylene derived units and C3 to C10a-olefin derived units, the plastomer having a density of less than 0.915 g/cm3. In a desirable embodiment, naphthenic and aromatic oils are substantially absent from the composition. In another embodiment, a polybutene processing oil is present. Further, in yet another embodiment, a secondary rubber is alos present such as, for example, natural rubber or butyl rubber, or a butadiene-based rubber.
La présente invention a trait à une composition apte à constituer un élément d'étanchéité à l'air telle qu'une chambre à air de pneumatique d'automobile, un revêtement intérieur, ou une chambre à air ou un revêtement intérieur d'aéronef, des vessies de polymérisation, et d'autres dispositifs pneumatiques. La composition comporte un élastomère comprenant des motifs dérivés d'oléfine contenant 4 à 7 atomes de carbone ; et un plastomère, dans lequel le plastomère est un copolymère de motifs dérivés d'éthylène et des motifs dérivés d'.alpha.-oléfine contenant 3 à 10 atomes de carbone, le plastomère présentant une densité inférieure à 0,915 g/cm¿3?. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, la composition est sensiblement exempte d'huiles naphténiques et aromatiques. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, la composition contient une huile polybutylène de traitement. Dans encore un autre mode de réalisation, un deuxième type de caoutchouc est également présent tel que, par exemple, du caoutchouc naturel ou du caoutchouc butylique, ou un caoutchouc à base de butadiène.
