Molecularly oriented, thermoplastic elastomeric dental tapes extruded with a melt spinning extrusion carried out at draw ratios from between about 4:1 and about 7:5:1 and draw temperatures from between about 80~ and 265 ~C having: elongation at break of less than about 50 %, an elastic limit of less than about 25 % and enhanced tape flex-twist index from between about 2.5 and about 5, with the capacity to release substantive, flake-free, saliva soluble coatings during flossing.

L'invention concerne des rubans dentaires élastomères thermoplastiques, à orientation moléculaire, extrudés par un filage par fusion réalisé selon des rapports d'étirage compris entre environ 4:1 et environ 7,5:1 et des températures d'étirage comprises entre environ 80· et 265 ·C. Ces rubans dentaires présentent un allongement à la rupture inférieur à environ 50 %, une limite d'élasticité inférieure à environ 25 % et un indice de flexion-torsion de ruban accru, compris entre environ 2,5 et environ 5. Ces rubans présentent la propriété de libérer un revêtement significatif, qui ne s'écaille pas et qui est soluble dans la salive, lors de l'utilisation de la soie dentaire.
