An elastomeric mount or band is provided for circumferential placement about a bonded abrasive segment of the type generally used to form a segmented grinding wheel assembly of a rotary surface grinder. The band serves to cushion the segment relative to a chuck of the grinder. The band is provided with a predetermined original or untensioned circumference and is elastically deformable or stretchable to a larger cirumference within a predetermined range of circumferences. This ability to elastically deform facilitates installation onto the segment and enables a single band to be used in combination with segments of various sizes. The band is preferably installed over a segment having a circumference greater than the band's original circumference so that tension in the installed band serves to mechanically fasten the band in position thereon. This mechanical fastening enables a user to easily move the band to various locations on the segment as desired.
L'invention concerne un support ou une bande élastomère destinés à une mise en place circonférentielle autour d'un segment de meule lié du type utilisé usuellement pour former un ensemble meule segmenté de meuleuse à surface rotative. La bande sert à amortir le segment par rapport à un mandrin de la meuleuse. La bande présente une circonférence de départ prédéterminée ou non soumise à une tension et est déformable ou étirable de manière élastique jusqu'à adopter une plus grande circonférence à l'intérieur d'une plage prédéterminée de circonférences. Cette capacité à se déformer élastiquement facilite l'installation sur le segment et permet de n'utiliser qu'une bande combinée à des segments de diverses tailles. La bande est de préférence installée sur un segment ayant une circonférence supérieure à la circonférence de départ de la bande de sorte qu'une tension, dans la bande installée, sert à attacher mécaniquement ladite bande en position sur ledit segment. Cette fixation mécanique permet à un utilisateur de déplacer facilement la bande en divers emplacements sur le segment, comme on le souhaite.
