ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A raised pavement marker comprising an elastomeric body which can be attached to a road without requiring a recess or hole in the road surface and having a reflective raised surface. The pavement marker has a low compressive strength (100 kPa at 25% compression), and thus compresses easily under the weight of vehicle tires so that no vibration is felt. The marker can be made in specialized shapes in which the reflective surface is supported by a connecting portion joining it to the base of the marker in such a way that the reflective surface lies flat and face down when struck by a vehicle wheel.
