ELASTOMERIC SEAL Abstract of the Disclosure The invention features an elastomeric seal material for sealed couplings, fittings and valves which is useful in applications requiring contact of the seal with relatively high temperature hot water and/or steam. The seal is formed of an elastomer comprised of a curable composition of a major amount of base polymer of a compatibilized blend of organopolysiloxane and ethylene- propylene copolymer or terpolymer, a cross-linking agent and a predetermined minor amount of accelerator. The elastomer composition may also include a minor amount of filler which reduces compression set and a minor amount of antioxidant which improves heat aging resistance as well as resistance to oxidation.
