An elbow holder has a conventional vice grip with roller chain one side of it is secured through an offset plate on one side and has a tubular extension from the opposite side of the offset plate so that the longitudinal axis of the tubular member intersects the plane of the vice at an acute angle preferably at 45°. When the tubular member is placed within a rotor which rotates the member and offset vice at a rotation of approximately a revolution per minute an elbow, having been secured in the vice by conventional means and by the holding of the roller chain can be rotated so that its axis of revolution is coincident with the longitudinal axis of the tubular member and hence circumferential welding of the to a length of pipe can be achieved.
