An electric appliance includes a base, an electrical load mounted on the base, an electrical current power supply, and an electrical switch for controlling the flow of the current to the load. The switch is movable between an "on" position in which the current is supplied and an "off" position in which the current is interrupted. The electric appliance further includes an actuator manually movable in one sense between active and inactive positions. The actuator in active position is coupled to the switch and movable in a different sense than the one sense so as to move the switch between the "on" and "off" position. The electric appliance also includes a bias means for biasing the actuator in the inactive position.
