ABSTRACT ELECTRIC CURRENT MEASUREMENT The magnitude of an electric current i can be determined by passing the current through a source such as a light emitting diode (1), the source being such that the distributed spectral content of the polychromatic light emitted thereby is dependent on the magnitude of the current i being passed therethrough. A detector (4) detects the intensity of the light emitted by the source at a plurality of different wavelengths, and a microprocessor (7) interprets the output of the detector in terms of the current passing through the source.
