ABSTRACT: The invention relates to a discharge lamp provided With an auxiliary device for starting that lamp. That auxiliary device comprises a capacitor and is connected to a starting electrode of a discharge tube associated with the lamp. According to the invention the capacitor is a temperature-dependent capacitor which has a large capacitance in the non-started condition of the lamp and a small capacitance in the operating condition of the lamp. This results in that in the operating condition of the lamp the auxiliary starting device is substantially out of operation. Fig. 2. - 11 -
