The present invention relates to an electric drive (2), particularly for a fuel metering unit (1) for delivering and metering fuel from a fuel tank (3) into a combustion chamber of an airplane engine (4), wherein the electric drive (2) drives at least one work module (5), the electric drive (2) being composed of at least two engine modules (6) that are supplied separately with electricity and disposed on a common rotor shaft (7) to form a redundant engine arrangement.
