Abstract A surface treating apparatus includes an excitation electrode and an opposed electrode confronting the excitation electrode. An electrically conductive and flexible contact piece is mounted on one of the electrodes to activate a surface of an article disposed between the electrodes. A high voltage is impressed between the electrodes and is thus applied to the article through the contact piece. The result is a more uniform treatment of surfaces especially those with complicated contours.
