ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a hair dryer of the type having a motor-driven fan, a heater box with plural wattage heaters connected in the box and disposed at the fan exit for heating the air to selected temperatures after it leaves the fan and having thermostat means to sense the air temperature and open the heater circuit on an overtemperature condition, an improvement is provided that comprises, thermostat means disposed directly in the exit plane of the heater box and also disposed down- stream of all the plural wattage heaters with the thermostat means being connected in series with at least some of the heaters. This rapidly senses the outlet temperature from the heater box and disconnects its connected heaters. The arrangement may be applied to line voltage motors or to reduced voltage motors.
