Abstract An electric heater assembly is disclosed for use typically with hand held soldering or desoldering devices. The assembly consists of a thin foil resistance element positioned between layers of in- sulating material and housed in a sheet metal enclo- sure. The use of a foil resistance element and its particular novel configuration insures maximum heat density at the working end of the device and enables the terminal portions to act as a heat sink to limit heat transfer from the working end or from the work itself.
