An electric cooker has a hob and a baking oven, said hob having several induction coils as heating devices for several hotplates. The cooker has a control mechanism with control electronics and power electronics with power electronics components, the control mechanism and power electronics being located in the rear area of the hob and above a hob plane. This leads to reduced heating of the power electronics by the oven.
