ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An electric igniter is disclosed of the type which com- prises two electrically conducting bodies separated by an electric- ally insulating body. The conductive and insulating bodies define a very smooth common end surface with an interconnecting member for electrically connecting the conductive bodies. A pyrotechnic charge is in contact with the interconnecting member for ignition when the member is heated by flow of electric current therethrough. The interconnecting member comprises at least one relatively thin metal layer which is bonded to said smooth end surface and a thin inert layer applied directly on the metal layer. In addition to these layers the interconnecting member also comprises a metal thin film layer applied directly on the inert layer, the inter- connecting member being adjusted to its correct resistance value by means of oxidizing the metal layer adjoining the inert layer.
