Abstract of the Disclosure An electric kettle having a plastic housing in- cluding handle, side walls and a top with a metal bottom secured along its periphery to the bottom of the plastic side walls. The kettle is provided with a heating element inserted into a downwardly facing circular channel in the metal bottom with the bottom crimped into engagement with the heating element. The portion of the metal bottom be- tween the heating element and the side walls is provided with annular grooves to retard the heat transfer from the heating element to the plastic to prevent damage to the side walls.
