ABSTRACT An incandescent lamp for direct substitution for a conventional incandescent lamp of the argon gas-filled type of a standard wattage rating in which the lamp of the inventor has a fill gas whose major portion is krypton and a filament designed to operate for at least 1000 hours and to produce substantially the same lumen output as the conventional incandescent lamp of comparable wattage rating while consuming at least about 6% less power (watts).
