A motor braking circuit arrangement, for use with a series / universal motor and a power supply for supplying power to the motor, including two separately actuable switches electrically interconnecting a separate braking winding with the motor to effect braking when either of the two switches are deactuated. The circuit arrangement includes a field winding wound about the motor stator and electrically connected in series with the motor armature winding. The separate brake winding is wound about the stator. The two switches are series- connected, and each switch is capable of assuming a first position associated with normal motor operation and a second position associated with motor braking wherein the separate brake winding is electrically connected in parallel with the motor armature. The switches may be single-pole, double-pole or combinations thereof. The separate brake winding may be series-connected with a resistor to limit the current flow through the brake winding, thereby limiting the rate of motor braking.
Un dispositif d'un circuit de freinage d'un moteur, s'adaptant à un moteur série/universel et une alimentation électrique destinée à alimenter en courant le moteur, comprend deux commutateurs actionnables séparément, interconnectant électriquement un enroulement de freinage séparé avec le moteur afin d'effectuer le freinage lorsque l'un et l'autre des deux commutateurs sont désenclenchés. Le dispositif du circuit comprend un inducteur enroulé autour du stator du moteur et raccordé électriquement en série à l'enroulement de l'induit du moteur. L'enroulement de freinage séparé est enroulé autour du stator. Les deux commutateurs sont connectés en série, et chaque commutateur est capable d'assurer une première position associée au fonctionnement normal du moteur et une seconde position associée au freinage du moteur, l'enroulement de freinage séparé étant raccordé électriquement en parallèle avec l'induit du moteur. Les commutateurs peuvent être unipolaires, bipolaires ou peuvent avoir les deux combinaisons. L'enroulement de freinage séparé peut être connecté en série avec une résistance afin de limiter la circulation du courant dans l'enroulement de freinage, et de limiter par conséquent la vitesse de freinage du moteur.
