Abstract of the Disclosure An electric spark building-up of metal on the working surface of rolls is effected by applying a voltage from a unipolar current source to each roll being treated and to an electrode interacting with the surface of the rolls. Building up metal on the working surface of rollers is effected in the course of normal rolling operation, with the rate of the building-up of metal ex- ceeding the rate of wear of the roll surface so that a limit layer of metal is formed the thickness of which being maintained con- stant, thereby retaining the initial shape of the roll working surface. The device for electric spark treatment is mounted on the rolling stand so that sliding contacts and electrodes are in contact with the rolls, the electrodes interacting with the surface of the rolls. The proposed method for an electric spark treatment of rolls and the device for carrying out the method enable the initial shape of the roll working profile to be main- tained during the whole operating time, thus saving the metal being rolled, improving quality of the finished product and re- ducing costs of the rolls.
