A thermal energy storage and delivery apparatus and method is disclosed which has a plurality of small metal containers containing phase change material such as paraffin wax. The containers are arranged in juxtaposition with air spaces therebetween and in layers, each layer having multiple containers and a support heating or cooling plate located under the containers. The support plate is formed with holes therethrough for the passage of ambient air around and between the containers. A control system is provided for activating the support heating or cooling plate during off-peak hours to store energy by changing the phase of the material in the containers, and heat energy is delivered to the ambient air by passing the ambient air around and between the containers to change the phase change material back to its normal phase.
Description d'un appareil de stockage et de libération d'énergie thermique, et méthode d'utilisation. Cet appareil possède plusieurs petits récipients de métal contenant des matériaux à changement de phase comme la paraffine. Les récipients sont disposés en juxtaposition avec des espaces libres et en couches, chaque couche ayant de nombreux récipients ainsi qu'une plaque de support chauffante ou refroidissante située sous les récipients. La plaque de support est percée de trous pour le passage de l'air ambiant autour des récipients et entre ceux-ci. Un système de régulation est fourni pour activer la plaque de support chauffante ou refroidissante durant les heures creuses, afin de stocker l'énergie en changeant la phase du matériau dans les récipients. L'énergie thermique est libérée dans l'air ambiant et passe à travers cet air autour des récipients et entre ceux-ci, afin que le matériau à changement de phase retourne à sa phase normale.
