ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION An electric heating element assembly for a bread toaster having a resistance element disposed in a tortuous configuration on a plate of insulating material and having a heat conducting, electrically insulating sheet secured in parallel relation to said plate to sandwich said element against said plate. The heating element being mounted in a toaster in closer proximity to the bread slice position than the elements of a conventional toaster.
