The invention is directed to an electric toothbrush and a drivable brush head therefore having a bristle support including mounting means for the movable mounting of the bristle support as well as a plurality of bristle tufts arranged on the bristle support. A central area of said bristle support comprises at least one bristled section that consists of two centre bristle tufts having a cross- section larger than the cross-section of middle bristle tufts adjoining the central area, the centre bristle tufts each having an elongated, in particular half-moon shaped, banana-shaped or kidney- shaped form that complement each other so that the bristled section of the central area has an approximately circular, oval or elliptical structure. The plurality of bristle tufts may be provided in several nesting rings or regions, where on an outer ring outer bristle tufts of an elongated tuft cross-section are mounted, and on a middle ring the middle bristle tufts are mounted that each of a cross-section smaller than the cross-section of the elongated bristle tufts of the outer ring. The centre bristle tufts in accordance with the invention provide a high stability of the central bristled area so that the centre bristle tufts can withhold forces pushing the tufts against the teeth without easily bending away under this pushing force.
L'invention concerne une brosse à dents électrique et une tête de brosse entraînée comprenant un support de soies pourvu de moyens de montage permettant le montage mobile dudit support, et d'une pluralité de touffes de soies disposées sur le support. Une zone centrale du support comprend au moins une partie à soies constituée de deux touffes de soies centrales présentant une coupe transversale supérieure à celle de touffes de soies médianes contiguës à la zone centrale, les touffes de soies centrales présentant chacune une forme allongée, en particulier de demi-lune, de banane ou de haricot, qui sont complémentaires entre elles de sorte que la partie à soies de la zone centrale présente une structure à peu près circulaire, ovale ou elliptique. La pluralité de touffes de soies peuvent être disposées dans plusieurs cercles ou zones d'imbrication. Ainsi, des touffes de soies externes à coupe transversale allongée sont montées sur un cercle externe et des touffes de soies médianes présentant une coupe transversale inférieure à la coupe transversale des touffes de soies allongées du cercle externe sont montées sur un cercle intermédiaire. Les touffes de soies centrales selon l'invention confèrent une grande stabilité à la zone à soies centrale, de sorte que les touffes de soies centrales puissent supporter les forces poussant les soies contre les dents, sans que les soies ne plient facilement sous cette force de poussée.
