ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Gas insulated electrical apparatus utilizes a polypropylene felt at selected locations within the apparatus enclosure. The flexible polypropylene felt filter prevents the passage of particulate matter, but allows the passage of the insulating gas, typically sulfur hexafluoride. The polypropylene felt filter will not disintegrate in the presence of arc products generated in the unlikely event of an arc in the sulfur hexafluoride.
