ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An electrical appliance, for example a vacuum cleaner, is provided with a handle having an elongate hollow interior serving as a storage space for a resiliently self-coiling in- sulated electrical conductor cord. One end of the cord is con- nected to a plug, which is releasably secured in an opening in the end of a tubular handle and forms a closure for the storage space when the cord is not in use. The other end of the cord is connected to a switch which is movable along the interior of the handle and can be releasably secured in the opening when the cord is in use.
