ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An electrical cable construction which exhibits greatly improved structural stability over long periods of time and after exposure to moisture and greatly varying high and low temperatures. The electrical cable comprises a conductive core, a metallic shield extending around or through the core, and a protective polyolefin layer adhered directly to the shield by an adhesive blend. The adhesive blend comprises one or more of an ethylene homopolymer, a copolymer of ethylene and an .alpha.-olefin, and a copolymer of ethylene and at least one ethylenically unsaturated ester, blended with a graft or cograft copolymer which comprises a polyethylene backbone grafted with an ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid or acid anhydride or derivative thereof.
