T&B 842 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: An outer self-sustaining shell is assembled with an interior expandable electrically insulative sleeve in fluid sealed relation with the shell. A valve is in fluid communication with the sleeve through the shell and is responsive to fluid pressure to permit ex- pansion of the sleeve and retention of the sleeve in expanded state. Interruption of the fluid sealed relation of the shell and sleeve, as by removing the valve from the assembly, causes collapse of the expanded sleeve onto a cable providing an electrically insulated, watertight and flexible covering. Methods for cable covering and apparatus for installing the covering are also set forth.
