Electrical cable, in particular for medium- or high-voltage power transmission or distribution, having a metal shield and a semiconductive water-blocking expanded layer. This layer exerts three main functions, the first one is to elastically and uniformly absorb radial forces of expansion and contraction of the cable coating layers due to thermal cycles of the cable during use, thus preventing deformations or breakages in the metal shield, the second one is to ensure electrical continuity between the cable core and the metal shield, the third one is to effectively avoid penetration and propagation of moisture and/or water along the cable core due, e.g., to possible ruptures in the metal shield. The third function is obtained by including in the expanded layer a water-swellable material.
L'invention concerne un câble électrique convenant en particulier pour une transmission ou une distribution d'énergie haute tension. Ce câble comprend un écran métallique et une couche expansée étanche semi-conductrice. Cette couche exerce trois fonctions principales. La première fonction est d'absorber de façon élastique et uniforme les forces d'expansion et de contraction des couches de revêtement du câble résultant des cycles thermiques du câble pendant son utilisation, ce qui permet de prévenir les déformation ou les ruptures de l'écran métallique. La seconde fonction est d'assurer la continuité électrique entre l'âme du câble et l'écran métallique, et la troisième fonction est de former une protection efficace contre la pénétration et la propagation d'humidité et/ou d'eau le long de l'âme suite, p. ex. à des ruptures de l'écran métallique. Cette troisième fonction est obtenue par l'inclusion d'un matériau gonflable à l'eau dans la couche expansée.
