ABSTRACT Disclosed is an electrical cartridge heater-element having a higher breakdown voltage than prior art heater-elements of equal size. The heater element comprises a heating conductor wound on an insulator and arranged in an inner metal casing. Connecting leads extend from the open end of the casing which is closed by an insulator. Between the conductor and casing is compacted insulating material such as magnesium oxide. The casing is fitted into an outer casing and surrounded by additional compacted insulating material. The outer casing is longer than the inner casing and the resulting space is filled with insulators having a central cavity through which extend its connecting leads, insulated with silicon sleeves.
