370-78-0180 ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY HAVING IMPROVED THREADING CHARACTERISTICS AND METHOD OF MAKING ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An electrical connector assembly having improved threading charac- teristics for resisting cross-threading and a method of making the assembly. The assembly includes a first and a second shell, each in- cluding mateable contacts, and a coupling nut mounted to the first shell. The coupling nut and second shell having interfitting, mateable threads for drawing the shells and mateable contacts together. The threads have a substantially uniform height throughout their entire length, having been formed on an automatic screw machine with a gradual incline on the forward, leading thread portion, with at least a substan- tial portion of the inclined thread removed to form a blunt, substan- tially perpendicularly?rising,start for the thread.
