ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR ABSTRACT An electrical connector that is capable of being quickly coupled and decoupled. The coupling and decoupling is accomplished by a coupling nut having a triple start thread (310) that allows .3 inches of axial movement for 360° of rotation of the coupling nut when the coupling nut is mated to the threads of a connector shell. The triple threads (311, 312, 313) also minimize radial and axial deflection between a coupling nut (300) and a connector shell (200) and between the male and female electrical contacts (270, 370), when the two halves of the connector assembly are connected together. This minimizes wear of the engaging surfaces and increases the life of the conductor.
